Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls

Summary

The Glass Castle is a 2005 memoir by Jeannette Walls. This book is a growing up tale. It takes pace in the United States (California, New Mexico, West Virginia, and New York city.) The story is told in first person view by strong female character. It goes over growing up poor, with an loving, fun, dysfunctional, and warm parents in the desert, rural coal country, and arriving in New York City. She does a lot and the book moves fast.

Recommendation

This book is awesome! It is heartfelt and a quick read. I really enjoyed the strong female lead, her insights, and [spoiler] overcoming adversity. It cover the emotional gamut: love, shame, fear, triumph.

The only negative is there isn't more of the book. I would have easily spent another fews gobbling up more of her / their story. I am happy that I read this book! I am not a fast reader and I read this in 2 or 3 days? It goes really fast.

For cautious readers There is some sexual assault, bad words native to USA, mental illness, and alcoholism.

Stars:
5 out of 5 stars!
